Not everything is urgent. That is a good thing.
An immediate reply can look like great service. Constantly switching attention, however, rarely produces great work.
I do not work in a mode where every message automatically interrupts everything else. I read it, assess its actual priority and reply with the necessary context—normally within two business days.
When something is genuinely critical, we treat it as critical. When it is not, we do not turn it into a fire simply because modern communication makes everyone constantly reachable.
